Christopher Niemann (http://christophniemann.com/) is a frickin’ amazing artist. He does New Yorker covers, illustrates for the New York Times, and seems friendly enough. I just stumbled across his blogon the NY Times. It’s basically incredible. He has an entire page of coffe illustrations illustrated with what else, coffee!

I also thoroughly enjoyed his abstract illustrations of New York using LEGOs.

Also, if you’re interested in retitling your bathroom, I mean, who isn’t, check this out!

Of course, he has overpriced prints to buy, starting at  $33.96 for some ungodly reason; or you could get a single notecard for $8.97.

A cheaper option to get some of his stuff is is the children’s books he wrote, which actually look very creative, cool and hipster.

Anyways, check him out. Neat stuff.

With the new version of Google Earth, you can view old versions of GIS data. Just looking around Furman University and downtown Greenville, South Carolina you can see how man landmarks have been built in the past 15 or so years. Really cool stuff. Also, they have all sorts of info on the Ocean. Reallllllly cool.

More pictures after the jump.

What’s next, Disney World?

I think James Harrison is a great player, definitely won the game with his sweet 100 yard return, but shit, is the guy an animal!

One more video of him slamming a FAN after the break.

london-highlights-326

Since I just got back from London (more pictures to come) and shot most everything with a $180 camera, and was mostly pleased with the results, it’s fitting that I come across this article from Ken Rockwell, who is a pro photographer.

The results might surpise you… Or maybe they won’t.

Basically, if you have a decent camera and can use it well, you can get some amazing shots.

Flight of the Conchords is a hilarious HBO show about to start it’s second season. If you haven’t seen/heard of these guys yet, then you really need to check them out now.

Have you ever been accused of wearing your political views on your sleeves? Well now you can wear them on your feet. A new Nike Air Force One design has presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Barack Obama emblazoned on the shoe. So go ahead, walk your way to Change in true liberal style, and for those who dont like it, feel free to take off the walking political -advert- and show them just how “Fired up and Ready to Go” you really are!

Just when you thought you had just about heard it all!

TIME Magazine articleL:

As summer vacation begins, 17 girls at Gloucester High School are expecting babies—more than four times the number of pregnancies the 1,200-student school had last year. Some adults dismissed the statistic as a blip. Others blamed hit movies like Juno and Knocked Up for glamorizing young unwed mothers. But principal Joseph Sullivan knows at least part of the reason there’s been such a spike in teen pregnancies in this Massachusetts fishing town. School officials started looking into the matter as early as October after an unusual number of girls began filing into the school clinic to find out if they were pregnant. By May, several students had returned multiple times to get pregnancy tests, and on hearing the results, “some girls seemed more upset when they weren’t pregnant than when they were,” Sullivan says. All it took was a few simple questions before nearly half the expecting students, none older than 16, confessed to making a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together. Then the story got worse. “We found out one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless guy,” the principal says, shaking his head.

Big Boi Ballet?

If you’re still trying to wrap your head around the topic of that last post, here’s a little happy news:

Outkast’s Big Boi has been collaborating with classical ballet choreographer Lauri Stallings to produce a hybrid performance like nothing that has been seen before. The show, called simply “Big,” opens tonight at Atlanta’s Fox Theater, where Stallings has worked with the Atlanta Ballet for many years. While this is Big Boi’s and Stalling’s first real exposure to each other’s genres of art, they both hope to bring both media to new audiences in a creative way.

Love this idea. Love the musical/creative open-mindedness it promotes. I hope it’s as good as it’s hyped up to be! (Bring the show to Cincinnati!)

Favorite quote: “For me [Big Boi's music] sounds like Shostakovich, Stravinsky a little … just today’s Stravinsky,” Stallings said. (from CNN.com)

I have written many scandalous and sensational headlines in my day, but this one seems to TOP them all. (pun intended of course)

From Fox News.Com

Ohio police have arrested a man who was caught on tape allegedly having sex with a picnic table.

Art Price Jr., 40, of Bellevue, Ohio, was arrested after a neighbor videotaped him engaged sexually with the metal table, according to a report on FOX19.com.

Price was seen on four separate occasions, always between 10:30 a.m. and noon, having sex with the picnic table, Bellevue Police Capt. Matt Johnson told the TV station.

“The first video we had, he was completely nude,” Johnson said, noting the table in question had a hole in the middle intended to hold an umbrella.

Price, a married father of three school-age kids, faces felony counts of public indecency because his house is near an elementary school, according to the report.
